Category Manager - OptiGroup

We are now looking for a strategic and business-driven Category Manager who wants to continue developing and drive profitability within our group’s private label brands DeliQ and WeCare.

We acquire and develop companies specializing in providing customers with products and services that enhance efficiency and contribute to a more successful business. Through active and long-term ownership, OptiGroup contributes with industry expertise and synergies between the subsidiaries.
Procurement in OptiGroup operates with a coordinated model where its’ companies have local replenishment and to a various degree also category & strategic sourcing capabilities. Given the synergistic nature of the OptiGroup supplier base, group sourcing was installed early 2023 to drive value in procurement and the supply chain. OptiGroup has a spend base of >1 billion EUR. The Category Manager will be employed at a group level and report to the group procurement director.
About the role
As a category manager in OptiGroup you use both your analytical toolbox and people management skills to drive value in the supply chain for the OptiGroup companies in close cooperation with business unit leaders. Initially, the role is focused on supporting group initiatives with a special focus on our private label brands DeliQ and WeCare. DeliQ is our private label in food packaging whilst WeCare is our private label brand in hygiene products (tissue, soaps, etc.). Alongside a focus on private labels, we also expect a broader involvement in these categories across the group.
Key activities as a Category Manager in OptiGroup include:
• Define and manage a standard assortment within the applicable categories
• Maintains product data for core SKUs and manages product lifecycle process
• Develop the suppliers and secures competitive pricing for our business units
• Together with the companies, set categories, strategies and targets for the brands
• Follow up on commercial KPIs in collaboration with our companies
• Identifying improvement opportunities in supplier and assortment optimization
• Understanding the global supply chains in core categories
• Execution of performance improvement projects, such as tenders and negotiations
• Creating a deep understanding of the cost breakdown of core commodity categories
• Supporting the OptiGroup emission reduction targets in the supply chain
• Support implementation and onboarding of new companies tied to procurement
• Packaging and commercializing the assortment for local activation and implementation
• Maintaining brand platform and communication of assortment changes
Competence
To succeed in this role, you preferably have a commercial mindset, business acumen and strong motivation to deliver results in a dynamic environment. Furthermore, we expect you to have strong people skills in a decentralized organization where informal leadership and creating trust is key.
• University master’s degree in business/finance, procurement, supply chain or similar
• Industry knowledge preferred but not critical
• Background from working in international organizations preferred
• Fluent in English and preferably a Nordic language
• +5 years of professional experience from other procurement/category roles
